Beyond The Tennis Court

Kids rarely miss an OnCourt class. They love it and that’s what they are paying for. But they also receive the rest of the Member Benefits that come with being part of Ankle Biters Tennis.

This past Monday we had only one kid participate in our OffCourt workout. This is a class designed to help kids with their body awareness and allows us time to talk about other tennis concepts rather than the physical. Usually we have a group of 4-10 kids who are not able to play tennis OnCourt as was originally planned and reGeovinate gets the call.

This past Monday we only had one kid, who happened to be a new member of Ankle Biters Tennis and had never experienced our OffCourt workout before. It was a great session! At first, the child had no idea what to expect but he quickly figured out what the class was all about and thoroughly enjoyed the workout. Overall, we were able to learn more about our student and his family.

My husband claims to suffer from pronoia, a concept where he believes that the universe is conspiring to our benefit. This is the opposite of paranoia. Similarly, I truly believe it was the universe working with and for us, the fact that he was the only one participating in the zoom OffCourt session, that at the end of the class we had the opportunity to meet his mom and sister. His mother was very appreciative and thankful, and ready to share with us that she had decided to homeschool her children and how happy she was to have our support for her child’s extracurricular activity. We homeschooled our children for many years and we know the extra love, responsibility, persistence, patience and dedication that educating our children from home requires. I don’t believe it was coincidence that he was the only one in our session. it was meant to happen because it gave us the opportunity to show our support to him and his family.

We are parents, coaches, mentors and feel so honored to be a part of our students’ wellness journey. Let’s remember that we are indeed planting a seed in young lives as well as providing support and guidance to their families.

Here at reGeovinate, we are always honored when the opportunities arise to support someone at just the right time. Whether it’s in a paid fitness session or after an OffCourt workout, taking a few extra minutes to offer encouragement and even some wisdom from our experience feels so fulfilling and reminds us of why we do what we do.
